San Benito

It is finally looking like a house! I can see myself sipping pina coladas there in 3 more months!!!!!!!!!

Baraboo Train Museum

We went tot he Baraboo Train Museum one day ont he way to the lake. The "station" is a replica of one from many years ago. This station used to carry the fish hatchery stock all over WI. They take you on a ride through the countryside in a real diesel engine. They also have all the old vintage cars retored and you can go inside them. A favorite of the kids was the "snowplow" engine. We will go back this winter for the Christmas festival. Santa arrives on the engine and the kids follow him on the tracks and he throws out candy:o)

Wild Rose Fish Hatchery

A short distance from our WI home is the Wild Rose fish Hatchery. It was built in the 1940's during the war. They are run by the state of Wisconsin and paid for with boat License money. The supply 100% of the fish WI lakes and rivers. The month we were there they were raising rainbow trout. We saw all 13 ponds from where the fish spawn to the final fish that goes into the river. One interesting fact...they actually strip the fishes ovaries to extract the eggs. And it doesn't hurt the fish. And we got to feed them:o)

Wisconsin Dells

One of our day trips at the lake was to the "Dells". We went to Devils Head State park and walked on the Ice Age Glacial Trail. It was pretty cool to see how the Glacier changed the landscape of the area and just left rocks everywhere. We were studing the Trojan Horse when we came across one at the Mt. Olympic theme park. What a great way to show the kids what it looked like. On our way home we spotted "the home of the Cow Pie". Which is a fantastic chocolate candy similar to a turtle. Yummmm

San Benito Construction Update

This is the latest update we have from the architect. I don't know what they are doing but it looks sturdy. Which is what we need in case of a hurricane!

Raging Waves Waterpark

Yesterday we were at the Raging Waves water park for 8 hours!!!!!! From open until close. We went with our homeschool friends as a last hurrah before school starts. The scariest ride was the Boomerang. The favorite ride was the twisted sister. Dasch had fun in the wave pool. We all got alittle crispy despite the multiple applications of sunscreen. We slept like rocks and look forward to doing it again next year:o)

Downtown Chicago!

We had such a good time downtown. We went down there to see the air and water show practice. We hit the art institute first and followed that up with millenium park, Buckingham fountain, Navy Pier, a ferris wheel ride, a pirate show and the Lego store. And to top it all off we took Chicago city bus back to the train station. We walked about 5 miles and the kids did not want to leave. We will definately make this an annual outing.
